Cancer is a ubiquitous disease in all animals. It disproportionately affects large and long-lived species, due to the greater number of cell divisions and thus the increased likelihood of somatic mutations.

A recent academic paper has demonstrated and measured the high frequency of oncogenic phenomena and cancer mortality in mammals. The most influential parameters are carnivorous diet and animal size.
